Blended Solutions, Part 1 – A Systemic Approach

April 2020

Presented by John B. Lazar and Daniela Robu

Invited webinar at Boise State University College of Engineering OPWL 560 Workplace Performance Improvement course

As we learn about how to improve performance in organizational settings, it’s easy (or at least easier) to look at the discrete parts of the process and understand each of them in isolation. The science and art of this work is to put the parts together in a logical, coherent and compelling way so decision makers say “yes” to your proposed intervention and other stakeholders are motivated to change and improve. Working from a commonly used model of performance improvement, we discuss the challenges of doing good work throughout the process. This will include considering when to use a team approach, when a blended solution might be appropriate, and how to sell your proposal. We shall discuss some of the key issues that we have encountered as practitioners and how to anticipate and plan for them.

Blended Solutions, Part 2 – A Case Study

April 2020

Presented by Daniela Robu and John B. Lazar

Invited webinar at Boise State University College of Engineering OPWL 560 Workplace Performance Improvement course

In Part 1, we discussed the science and art in practical terms of conducting performance improvement in organizational settings. In Part 2, we shall discuss a case study one of us continues to engage in her organization. It will not only illustrate the blended solution distinction and effective stakeholder management during the sales cycle and implementation process, it will also describe some of the issues involved in ongoing adoption of what has become a successful culture change initiative.
